Hymns For The Wanderer

Hi EIG readers! I’ve been absent for the last few weeks because I’ve been busy at work making a thing; a Hymns EP to be exact! Though, because of my busy creative life, I had to take a step back from blogging, our fearless leader Krystal suggested I post a little about my project, so here goes!

Introducing “Hymns for the Wanderer”

Many people don’t feel like faith based music tells an authentic, vulnerable, real-life story. These people gravitate toward the depth found in hymns, yet are sometimes unsatisfied with the traditional way they are sung.

This is one of the reasons why I decided to record a hymns EP. I wanted to harness the timeless depth of hymns but give them a fresh interpretation. Of course hymn remakes are nothing new, but I’m hoping these arrangements will reach a unique subset of people.

Why this Title?

One day, as I was shopping and saw an inspirational quote sprawled across the front of a journal, “All who wander are not lost.” I contemplated the song “Wanderer” and thought that, though I wrote it for someone who was wandering away from the Light, it may have resonated with so many people because it spoke to more than one type of wanderer. Not only did it resonate with people wandering away from the Light, but it resonated with people wandering back to, through and with the Light.

It suddenly clicked; not all wanderers were lost.

This is why I chose to title my EP “Hymns for the Wanderer.” This musical narrative is a sequel to my song “Wanderer” and tells the story of someone who isn’t a “lost one” anymore, but is instead searching for the way back home.

If you are interested in learning a little more about this project, hearing music samples, or even ordering the EP you can find lot of fun things over at Thanks so much for your support. It means the world to me that I am able to make art because of people like you!
