Just When You Need Wisdom

Do you wish you had wisdom in order to handle the day to day? Even in facing our nations issues, how do we process it all and take a wise stand toward what is right? As a human it can be hard to look passed what I would want in this life and see what God ultimately has in mind for us. Our sinful nature distorts everything that is good, so how do discern all of this?

Also it is not good for a soul to be without knowledge, and he sins who hastens with his feet. The foolishness of a man twists his way, and his heart frets against the Lord. – Proverbs 19:2-3

A few weeks back, I started reading the book of Proverbs. In the past I would read the book out of spite towards me enemies. I would read about how a fool would be treated and would scoff. Ironically, it was myself that was a fool. Today, I am going for a different approach. I desire the wisdom of Christ. He knew how to face those who challenged His philosophies with such tact. Those who desired the love that He wanted to give, just flocked to Him. He knew how to give both wisdom and love. I want that in my life.

So the best way to go about figuring out the philosophies of Christ is to read the Word. I found so many little jewels in this book that I didn’t remember from before.

He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; he who keeps understanding will find good. – Proverbs 19:8

The fear of the Lord leads to life, and he who has it will abide in satisfaction; he will not be visited with evil. – Proverbs 19:23

How precise and direct is this? I can walk confidently in the counsel of God, knowing that if I continue to spend time with Him, evil will not abide in my heart. I just love the line that says “he who keeps understanding will find good.” It speaks volumes about being positive, finding the blessings, and just being what God has called us to be, the light of the world. I encourage you to take some time and discover Wisdom.

The spirit of a man is the lamp of the Lord, searching all  the inner depths of his heart. – Proverbs 20:27

God’s word, there’s nothing that compares to it for a source of wisdom.

Did you know there are 7 pillars of wisdom? Solomon talks about them in Proverbs 9 but he really doesn’t tell you what they are. He just says that “Widsom”, personified, built her house around the seven pillars of wisdom. I believe you can find the seven pillars of wisdom in James 3. The seven attributes of wisdom found there are 1. Purity/Truthfulness, 2. Peace loving, 3. Impartiality, 4. Submissiveness (taking correction?), 5. Sincerity 6. Courteousness, 7. Mercy
